Google Play

Google Play, also known as the Google Play Store, is a digital distribution service operated and developed by Google. It’s an online store for music, books, movies, and a few million Android apps and games. It was launched in March 2012 by merging four different stores: Google Music, Google Books, Google Movies, and Android Market.

How does Google Play work for users and developers?

People may pick from millions of applications, games, and other content of entertainment on Google Play. To help users in finding the right products for their specific requirements, the shop offers a search tool, editorial content, reviews, and more. It’s also a secure platform for people to pay for non-free apps and in-app purchases. If Android users have issues with an app or require a refund, they can contact customer service.

Google Play offers Android developers tools, training, analytics, and insights to help them better their apps both technically and in terms of usage and income. It provides cutting-edge app development, analytics, testing, and quality control tools through the Android Software Development Kit, Android Studio, and the Play Console. Also, it is an open ecosystem that enables user and developer choice.

App Store vs Google Play for app development

Both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store provide the same function: to search for, download, and install mobile applications.

These online stores offer similar revenue sharing conditions – 70% goes to the developers, and 30% of revenue goes to the store. App Store takes considerable time in reviewing any new application and then uploading it on the main platform. Although App Store is based on quality assurance, Google Play Store is said to be more developers friendly.
